Obstetrics-Gynecology Grand Junction
Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Merrilynn obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she majored in political science and women’s studies. She moved to the Western Slope and went to nursing school at Mesa State College in Grand Junction. Merrilynn began working as a C-section scrub tech while in nursing school. After graduation, she joined the team at St. Mary’s and worked as a Labor and Delivery nurse for three years. She then moved to the front range with her family. She graduated from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center with a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Midwifery in 2001. Merrilynn considers midwifery her passion and has worked in various applications including private practice, underserved clinics, faculty for University Nurse Midwives at the University of Colorado-Anschutz and even founded her own private practice in Boulder, Colorado. She has supported many women and families during her career and has caught hundreds of babies.A favorite quote of Merrilynn’s is: “Birth is about making mothers… strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength.”When not working, Merrilynn loves watching her children compete in wrestling and kayaking competitions. She always looks forward to spending time outside and hiking local trails.
